Associations between Blood Metabolic Profile at 7 Years Old and Eating Disorders in Adolescence: Findings from the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children

This study investigated the prospective role of metabolic risk in eating disorders by examining 2929 participants from the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children (ALSPAC) cohort.

The study examined the assoications of detailed plasma metabolic traits at 7 years old with risk for anorexia nervosa or binge-eating disorder assessed at 14, 16, 18, and cumulatively by 18 years. The results suggest for a role of metabolic factors in eating disorders development in adolescence.
