Understanding how Ideal Cariovascular Health (ICVH) is associated with metabolic phenotypes is needed in order to define the strategy and timing for interventions that aim to prevent the onset of atherosclerosis and later cardiovascular disease.
This study aimed to describe associations between ICVH score and vascular phenotypes in 11-to 12-year-old children and their parents. Cross-sectional ICVH scores were constructed for the participants. Lower scores were associated with adverse adult vascular phenotypes and adverse child vascular function. The conclusion of this study underlines the potential of family-based interventions with data from ICVH metrics as a tool to delay the onset and progression of subclinical atherosclerosis.
