Nuclear magnetic resonance-based metabolomics identifies phenylalanine as a novel predictor of incident heart failure hospitalisation

In this paper, researchers aimed to replicate the results of a FINRISK cohort (n=7330) study linking circulating metabolites with heart failure hospitalization (HFH).

The team analyzed 80 metabolic measures in the PROSPER cohort (n=5341), comprised of elderly adults. Results indicated significant associations in the circulating concentrations of 13 metabolites with HFH. After adjustment for clinical risk factors, findings support phenylalanine as a novel predictor of HFH.
