The current paper describes an observational analysis of 14 triglyceride-containing sub-fraction measurements in 11,560 participants to investigate potential sub-fraction specific associations with CHD and stroke in prospective longitudinal cohort studies from three UK cohorts free of coronary heart disease and stroke at baseline.

Triglyceride sub-fractions were associated with increased risk of coronary heart disease but not stroke, and the effects attenuated after adjustment for HDL-C and LDL-C.
